The leading Baltic startup and technology event TechChill has announced its annual pitch competition Fifty Founders Battle. All seed and early stage startups from different tech fields are encouraged to take part and compete for recognition of international investors along with the main prize of 10 000 EUR. The application deadline is April 1.

Afterwards, 50 of the most promising startups from across the Baltic, Scandinavian and Central European regions will be selected. Each semi-finalist will then have the opportunity to present their business idea on TechChill’s virtual stage in front of over 200 investors and other attendees.

This year the main focus is on FinTech, B2B, AI&ML, Sustainability, Hardware, IoT and Robotics fields, and in addition to the main cash prize of 10 000 EUR, one of the most competitive participants will also receive Httpool’s special prize for Facebook and LinkedIn ad campaigns worth 3000 EUR, as well as other valuable prizes.

The application form can be found here.

Adjusted to the current day event set up, TechChill 2021 will be held virtually, gathering over 2000 international investors, including representatives of venture capital companies and accelerators, as well as business angels, eager to get to know the Baltic region and its most promising startups, discover innovative business ideas and evaluate future investment possibilities. Those will include Lightspeed Venture Partners, Accel, EQT Ventures, Future Positive Capital, Expon Capital, Vendep Capital, Change Ventures, Practica Capital, Karma Ventures, Superhero Capital, TMT Investments, Tera Ventures and other investment companies that will evaluate each finalist and its global business potential alongside other dedicated judges.

Fifty Founders Battle winners from previous years include emerging Baltic success stories such as Infogr.am, TrackDuck, Edurio, Nordigen, Sprayprinter, Anatomy Next, Precision Navigation Systems, as well as last year’s winner, Estonian startup Woola, which produces a sustainable sheep wool bubble wrap. In total there were applicants from 37 countries represented last year.

“Fifty Founders Battle was the start of a crazy 2020 for Woola. Winning the competition gave us the recognition that’s needed when starting to fundraise. The cash prize helped us survive while bootstrapping until we ended the year with a 450 000 EUR investment round. We’re especially happy to see Greentech emerge in the battle – looking forward to seeing more climate startups succeed this year. Our experience shows that Fifty Founders Battle is a great platform for any startup on the way to growth and global success,” Woola co-founder Anna-Liisa Palatu comments.

TechChill will take place for the 10th time in May this year gathering over 2000 attendees, including fastest-growing start-ups, international speakers, most innovative corporations, investors, media representatives and talented tech enthusiasts from all over the world. This time the leading technology event in the Baltics will be held virtually focusing on topics such as sustainability innovations, knowledge for growth, digital transformation, diversity, as well as the role of the Baltics in the future of tech. The two weeks of content will begin with a launch event in Vilnius and end with a grand finale in Riga, building bridges across borders on a brand-new level.
